Afeka College of Engineering in Tel Aviv has built a center for antenna development and measurement next to the college’s antenna and electromagnetic radiation teaching lab. The lab contains high-end equipment and an anechoic chamber, allowing for precise antenna modulation at the 20GHz to VHF range.
The center is designed to serve the communications industry both in measuring existing antennas and wireless systems and in designing and developing new antennas. The lab is used both for teaching and courses as part of the college’s communications specialization, and for implementing student graduation projects.
The center has a skilled and experienced technical staff for performing a variety of radiation measurements, both in a sealed anechoic range and outside the lab.
The center’s activities
Located in Afeka’s laboratory building, the center provides the following services: Antenna planning for simulations and experiments | Rapid prototype production for a wide variety of applications | Small-batch production with full documentation | Measurement at the 10MHz to 20Ghz range | Radiation level measurement and pre-compatibility testing | On-site consulting and field testing

Prof. Ely Levine
head of Afeka Center for Antenna Design
The center is headed by Prof. Ely Levine, a seasoned expert on the physical layer of wireless communications systems and one of Israel’s leading antenna specialists. A graduate of Haifa’s Technion institute, Prof. Levine has worked as a research engineer at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, and earned his doctorate on bandwidth and efficiency in printed antennas. He has previously served as a development engineer and project manager for Elta in Ashdod, Mobilcomm in Yavne, and Elop in Rehovot. He currently serves as a senior lecturer at Afeka on communications, antennas, and microwaves, and provides engineering consulting in these areas.
