Investing in Research, Shaping Tomorrow

At Afeka, we believe that meaningful research grows from curiosity, collaboration, and purpose.
This year, we have significantly increased our research budget, strengthening our ability to support researchers, expand internal grants, deepen partnerships with leading institutions, and encourage the next generation of scholars.
As we continue to invest in research, our goal remains simple yet ambitious:
to turn knowledge into innovation that benefits people, industries, and communities.

Together, we see research not only as the pursuit of answers, but as a way to shape a better, more thoughtful world.

Welcome to the fourth edition of Afeka’s Research Authority Newsletter!

Over the past months, Afeka College has celebrated several remarkable accomplishments that exemplify our community’s dedication to innovation, collaboration, and scientific excellence.

In this edition, we are pleased to feature exclusive interviews with Dr. Iris Forma and Dr. Yossi Luzon, who share insights into their recent achievements, research journeys, and the impact of their work.
Dr. Iris Forma has been awarded a competitive grant from the Planning and Budgeting Committee (PBC) for her groundbreaking research on urban cooling, integrating engineering, sustainability, and urban well-being to address critical climate challenges.

Dr. Yossi Luzon has published a paper in a leading scientific journal, an achievement that highlights the global relevance and high quality of Afeka’s research.

We also extend warm congratulations to Dr. Oz Golan and Dr. Oshrit Hoffer, who have joined the national NDT Consortium supported by the Israel Innovation Authority. This consortium brings together major industries and academic partners to develop advanced non-destructive testing technologies for complex materials.
In addition, Dr. Eli Flexer and Dr. Oshrit Hoffer have also won PBC grant for their collaborative research with Rambam Health Care Campus, aimed at developing an innovative imaging system for the early detection of oral cancerous tumors.

Together, these achievements reflect Afeka’s ongoing commitment to advancing research that drives impact across academia, industry, healthcare, and society as a whole.
