The prestigious "Defense Minister's Shield" recognizes organizations and institutions that demonstrate exceptional commitment to military reservists. This honor celebrates organizations that promote the vital importance of reserve service as a contribution to society and national security, while safeguarding reservists' rights, developing comprehensive support systems, and acknowledging their dedication. Afeka College will receive this distinguished award in a ceremony attended by Defense Minister Israel Katz, IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir, and Chief Reserve Officer Brigadier General Benny Ben Ari. Afeka will receive this honor alongside the Technion and Bar-Ilan University.

During the "Iron Swords" war over 42% of Afeka's student body has been called to active reserve duty, alongside many faculty and staff members. Many students served extended periods. Despite these unprecedented challenges, Afeka maintained academic continuity while establishing robust academic, administrative, financial, and emotional support frameworks.

From the war's outset, Afeka implemented a comprehensive personal support system for those mobilized, offering academic accommodations, personalized tutoring, mentorship programs, emotional counseling, and financial aid. Throughout this period, the college has remained committed to listening, adapting, and supporting students in the reserves, enabling them to continue their education while maintaining high academic standards to secure their professional futures—even following demanding military service.
